THE PANIC CHANNEL Showcasing For 'Industry Types'
February 7, 2005Guitarist Dave Navarro of THE PANIC CHANNEL — the new band featuring three quarters of the most recent lineup of JANE'S ADDICTION (Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Chris Chaney) and former SKYCYCLE vocalist Steve Isaacs — has posted the following message on his web site:
"[Thursday] night [Feb. 3] we did what is called a showcase. Basically, it's a glorified rehearsal with lots of potential business and industry associates in attendance. Pretty uncomfortable, if you ask me, but necessary. In order to make it less uncomfortable, we invited a few friends and family, our friend Tom Morello [AUDIOSLAVE, ex-RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE], and a couple of people to film... Marc Racco and his crew. (the guy who made [THE PANIC CHANNEL's] 'Bloody Mary'video.) I gotta say, we had a really great time. We unleashed two new songs, 'Said You'd Be' and 'Left To Lose'... my two favorites. We also played six others, 'Loophole', 'Go On', 'Outsider', 'Ashes', 'Half Hearted' and 'Bloody Mary'. Hopefully we will have some video in a week or so on the TPC site. In all my years, I have never done a 'showcase'. I chose to replace those feelings of discomfort (I mean, it's a room with like 20 industry types, it's not like a show.) with excitement over the fact that we are brand new, like a baby band. It was kind of rad. Monday [Feb. 7] we go in to the studio to finish the recordings for the new album. We have done seven songs and plan to do four or five more. We are currently trying to be out by June, but my experience in this business tells me to prepare for the fall. Either way it'll be fine. We will still hit the country this summer on a number of shows if we have to wait."
